The 2024 Paris Olympics has concluded, leaving Team SA with much to be proud of.

Team SA won a total of SIX medals at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. This included – ONE gold, THREE silvers and TWO bronze medals, as reported on The South African.

So, just how much did Team SA make in France?

HOW MUCH TEAM SA MADE AT 2024 OLYMPICS IN PARIS

Team SA took home R 1.85 million.

Tatjana Smith was SA’s top earner, taking home R600 000 (R400 000 for gold and R200 000 for silver).

Meanwhile, the mens 4x100m relay team famously claimed a historic silver. Akani Simbine, Bayanda Walaza, Shaun Maswanganyi and Bradley Nkoana all took home R75 000 for their second placed podium finish in France. Additionally, Benjamin Richardson also earned R75 000 as he was a part of the team and he ran in other heats for team SA.

Thus, totaling R375 000 in earnings from our relay team.

Furthermore, Jo-Ane van Dyk took home R200 000 for her silver medal (Javelin). Whilst, Alan Hatherly bagged R75 000 claiming bronze in cycling. More specifically, Mountain biking.

BLITZBOKS MAKE SPRINGBOKS AND SA PROUD

Oh, what a story. The Blitzboks were the last team to qualify for the 2024 Sevens Olympics.

Moreover, they lost both of their matches on the first day (10-5 against Ireland and 17-5 against New Zealand). Therefore, fans across SA were given little hope of any success at this years Olympics.

However, Phillip Snyman and the Blitzboks had other plans for the rest of the global showpiece in France.

Firstly, they comprehensively beat Japan 49-5 to qualify as one of the best placed third-placed teams. Then, they shocked the rugby world by beating the All Blacks sevens team 14-7 to qualify for the semi-finals. Whilst, they eventually lost a gritty battle against France , The Blitsboks went on to beat Australia in the Bronze medal match to seal a podium finish.

As a result, each player will take home R50 000. Therefore, the Blitzboks team took home R600 000.

*It is unclear whether Ronald Brown or Katlego Letebele will be paid.

*Sineseipho Dambile was in the squad but he did not race so it unclear whether or not he will be paid.
