So how powerful is South Africa? For those curious about the world around them, a United States network takes on the task of establishing just how powerful the southern most tip of Africa is (a country which they point out is the size of two Texas’s).
With the use of excellent imagery, Seeker Daily points out that SA is the 25th largest country in the world; one of the top mining countries, one of the most diverse with the 32nd biggest military and a commendable relationship with nuclear weapons (being the first nation to voluntarily dismantle their nuclear units)… but that with a high unemployment and crime rate, South Africa is still “working on” their powerfulness!
A few of their facts aren’t quite right. It was Archbishop Desmond Tutu who coined the phrase “Rainbow nation”, not former South African president Nelson Mandela. And new figures suggest South Africa has slipped to third place behind Nigeria and Egypt in terms of being Africa’s biggest economy.
