OVER 400 000 VISITORS VISIT WESTERN CAPE SPOTS
The Western Cape was a busy province over the December period, with Tourism Update reporting that more than 400 000 visitors explored Western Cape and Cape Town attractions.

Some of these attractions in Cape Town included Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach within Table Mountain National Park, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and Robben Island.

Western Cape regional attractions that were popular, included the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden in Hermanus, Cape Agulhas Lighthouse, Arniston Hotel & Spa, !Khwa ttu, Shipwreck Museum and Panthera Africa, which all recorded nearly 20 000 visitors cumulatively.

“Across the Western Cape, and especially in Cape Town, our expectations of a record-breaking summer season have been realised. This is excellent news for our provincial economy and for the hundreds of thousands of jobs supported by tourism in the province,” Mireille Wenger, Provincial Minister of Finance and Economic Opportunities said.

CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ALSO BOUNCES BACK
Wesgro and Cape Town Air Access also recently announced record-breaking numbers in two-way passenger traffic at Cape Town International Airport’s international terminal over the December holidays.

During December, more than 317 000 two-way international passengers travelled through the airport.
This figure is now recorded as the highest monthly total Cape Town airport has ever seen, beating the previous high of 290 000 passengers processed in January 2020.
