SA PASSPORT
While South African passports do not open as many doors as those of Singapore and Japan – whose nationals may enter close to 200 countries without any barriers, South Africans can still travel to some interesting places.
The notorious “Green Mamba” does allow entry to more destinations than most other passports from countries in the region, except for Mauritius and the Seychelles.

This interesting country located in South America allows entry to SA passports for 90 days. There are no direct flights but SAA flies to Sao Paulo in neighbouring Brazil.
Brazil
Also located in South America, Brazil is visa-free for 90 days. There are direct flights from SA to Sao Paulo with South African Airways (SAA).
Kenya
This country located in East Africa permits entry to SA passport holders for 30 days. Airlink and Kenya Airways offer direct flights to Nairobi.
Mauritius
The Indian Ocean Island grants visa-free stays for 90 days. There are direct flights with SAA, FlySafair and Air Mauritius.
Namibia
SA’s neighbour, Namibia, allows entry to SA nationals for stays of up to 90 days without visas. Several airlines operate direct flights between SA and Namibia, including Airlink, SAA and FlyNamibia.
Thailand
This Southeast Asian country grants entry to SA nationals for 30 days. However, there are no direct flights from SA. Flying with Singapore Airways is a convenient way to reach Thailand.
Singapore
This small island state located in Southeast Asia permits entry to SA travellers for 30 days. Singapore Airlines operates direct flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Philippines
This island nation in the Pacific grants visa-free entry to SA passport holders, for periods of up to 30 days. As there are no direct flights, the Philippines can easily be reached with Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific.
