South Korea launches new digital nomad visa

DIGITAL NOMADS TO SOUTH KOREA
South Korea has introduced a new digital nomad visa that will allow remote workers to live and work in the country for up to two years while they are employed in a company abroad.
The digital nomad visa will be valid for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, reports Travel News.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
According to digitalnomadskorea.com, applicants will need to fulfill the following requirements:
- Be 18 or older and have worked for at least a year in the same industry.
- Work for a company abroad or be a freelancer abroad.
- Show proof of earning more than 85 million won ($66,000) in 2023. The visa requires you to earn double Korea’s gross national income (GNI) per capita for the previous year.
- Have personal medical insurance covering at least 100 million won for hospital treatment and repatriation during your stay in Korea.
Workers will have to apply in their country’s Korean embassy. But if they are currently in Korea, they can switch from the visa exemption (B-1), tourist visa (B-2) or short-term stay visa (C-3).

DIGITAL NOMAD VISAS: THE BEST OF THE BEST
In another recent study, it was revealed that one specific country had the best digital nomad visa of the lot.
According to the recently released Digital Nomad Visa Index by VisaGuide.World, which analyses and ranks the visas offered to digital nomads by 38 world countries based on several factors, Spain is the country that has the best digital nomad visa in the world.

Lum Kamishi from VisaGuide.World, revealed that the low-income requirement that applies to get a nomad work visa in Spain along with the lower costs of living compared to the other countries in the list, are some of the factors that makes Spain the most convenient choice for remote workers.
“It’s also simple things that increase the quality of life for a digital nomad, like good internet speed, the possibility to live there for a year without paying taxes, and the low taxes in the second year.” Kamishi said as per SchengenVisa.Info.
