South African Airways sets restart date for Perth flights
South African Airways (SAA) has announced the date it will resume scheduled flights to Perth in Western Australia.
South African Airways has announced when it will reintroduce long-haul flights between Johannesburg and Perth.
The news of this direct service will be well received by the SA communities living in Perth, as well as many travellers flying between the two cities.
“Besides the global interconnectivity potential of this route, Perth has long been a favoured destination for South African and Australian travellers, with approximately 80% of our target market being visiting family and friends,” said SAA CEO, Professor John Lamola.

The restart of the Perth service marks the second intercontinental route to be reopened by the relaunched national airline.
SAA emerged from business rescue in 2021. It restarted scheduled flights to a handful of destinations in November of that year.
The first intercontinental route the airline resumed after a lengthy absence, was Sao Paulo in Brazil, on 31 October last year.
