Proflight Zambia increases Cape Town flight schedule
Proflight Zambia, a privately-owned airline, has increased it’s flight schedule to Cape Town by introducing another direct flight.
Here is some more good news for Cape Town! Regional airline Proflight Zambia has introduced another direct flight to Cape Town.
This is set to benefit the city’s tourism sector, which is seeing phenomenal growth in visitor numbers.

PROFLIGHT ZAMBIA CAPE TOWN FLIGHTS
When Proflight Zambia initially launched flights on this route in July last year, it offered two flights a week.
Due to strong passenger growth, the carrier is increasing frequencies to three flights a week.
It now operates flights on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The airline uses a 50-seater aircraft to operate flights from the Zambian capital to Cape Town.
ADDITIONAL CAPE TOWN FREQUENCY ON PROFLIGHT ZAMBIA
The third weekly service comes just seven months after the airline introduced its flights on this route.
Proflight Zambia reports good passenger numbers on the route, saying that it is seeing impressive load factors on these flights.
According to Tourism Update, Proflight Zambia’s Director of Flight Operations, Josias Walubita said, “When we launched twice a week, there were lots of queries and questions about why we couldn’t do more. So, from the seven months we’ve been operating, we’ve seen the route doing well.”
EXPANDING TOURISM
The airline says direct flights between Cape Town and Lusaka route are important for expanding tourism flows between the two countries.
The convenient three-and-a-half-hour flight connecting the two cities enables travellers to seamlessly go from beach to bush or vice versa, without delays caused by having to transit through other cities.
BILATERAL RELATIONS
Walubita said that the popular Cape Town route was a reflection of the growing numbers of travellers between South Africa and Zambia, driven by good relations between the two countries.
“Over the last few years, there has been a deliberate effort between the Zambian and South African governments to strengthen bilateral ties and that has translated into citizens of both countries wanting to visit each other for trade, investment and different forms of industry,” Walubita said.
Visitors from Zambia to South Africa have reportedly increased by 25% between 2022 and 2023.
