Cape Town International Airport ranked among world’s top 3!
Here’s another feather in the cap for the Mother City! Cape Town International Airport has ranked among the world’s best.
In a recent survey, Cape Town International Airport has been rated one of the best in the world.
That said, the airport ranked third best in the world, out of 194 of the biggest and best-known airports.

AIRPORT SURVEY
This data was collected by AirHelp, analysing passenger flights operated between 1 January and 30 September 2023, from 4 000 airports.
Claims management company, AirHelp assists passengers in claiming compensation from airlines when flights are cancelled, delayed or overbooked.
AirHelp therefore gathered data from the top 194 airports, based on flight traffic data and reports from air travellers.

RANKING CRITERIA
AirHelp has ranked airports across the world. Furthermore, the criteria used in its airport ranking include on-time performance, food and shops and customer opinions
On-time performance is defined as flights that arrive within 15 minutes of their published arrival time. Furthermore, this significant criterion carries a weighting of 60% of an airport’s score.
Customer opinion also contributed to airports’ rankings, even though this factor only counted towards 20% of the score. This was assessed through a survey of 15,800 air travellers in more than 58 countries.
The food and shops component contributed 20% of the score. Again, customers were asked to rate each airport.

THE BEST
According to AirHelp, the top airport in the world is Muscat International Airport in Oman.
This is followed by Brazil’s Recife-Guararapes International and Cape Town International Airport.
Europe’s top airport is Bilbao Airport in Spain, with a score of 8.04/10.
THE WORST
According to AirHelp, the world’s worst airport is Banjarmasin Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Indonesia.
This is followed by Malta International, London Gatwick Airport, Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport, Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport, and Denpasar International in Bali, Indonesia.

Cape Town Airport has seen several airlines start up new flights to the city in recent times.
South Africa is a tourism hotspot for various reasons. A range of natural attractions, diverse cultures, premium accommodation and value for money are some of the attractions for international visitors.
In addition, SA’s mother city also has one of the world’s best airports!
