Airline asks passengers to behave on flights!
This international airline has recorded an increase in aggressive and disruptive behaviour among passengers on its flights.
Air New Zealand has put out a request to airline passengers to remain courteous while taking flights over the busy holiday season.
It seems South Africa is not the only country where often airlines see incidents of unruly or disrespectful behaviour on passenger flights.

Opening emergency exit doors during flight, engaging in sexual intercourse, smoking in toilets or not being willing to comply with instructions are some of the incidents making the news this year.

BEHAVIOUR INCIDENTS
New Zealand has also seen a rise in passengers displaying unruly behaviour on flights.
Air New Zealand’s Chief Operational Integrity and Safety Officer, David Morgan, said the number and severity of badly behaved passengers is increasing.
“Air New Zealanders who work both on the ground and in the air, work extremely hard to ensure our customers have a safe journey with us. But over the past few years, we’ve seen an increase in some customers not showing them the respect they deserve,” said Morgan, per Stuff.

FLIGHT BANNING
In their safety management procedures airlines have processes and procedures for dealing with such matters.
New Zealand’s national carrier has said that it sees nearly 200 cases per month of unacceptable passenger behaviour.
According to Stuff, up to 10 passengers each month receive notifications of banning from Air New Zealand’s flights for a range of disruptive and unacceptable behaviours. The bans range from 24 hours to permanent.
UNRULY AIRLINE PASSENGERS
The body regulating commercial aviation across the globe, International Air Transport Association (Iata), reported that unruly passenger incidents were on the rise worldwide.
Iata reported earlier this year that there was one unruly incident reported for every 568 flights in 2022. This figure has risen from one per 835 flights in 2021.
Non-compliance, verbal abuse, and passenger intoxication were the largest offences but physical abuse incidents, have also increased, occurring once every 17,200 flights.
