Hisense has launched its new 100-inch U7K ULED Mini-LED flat screen TV, which is being produced at its Atlantis factory near Cape Town.

The significant milestone marks the first 100-inch TV manufactured at the facility and the first Hisense 100-inch TV sold in South Africa.

It has been seen as a huge vote of confidence for the country’s manufacturing sector.

‘SOUTH AFRICANS CAN WATCH THE BOKS ON LOCALLY-MADE TVS’

The unveiling event, held at the Atlantis factory, was attended by Trade and Industry minister Ebrahim Patel.

“Today we announced a big-screen TV, 100-inches, that is produced for the first time here in Atlantis and will be sold across the world,” said Patel, while praising the launch and highlighting the TV’s local production and global sales potential.

“The next time the Springboks win the Rugby World Cup, the nation can watch the match and the celebration on big-screen TVs made in South Africa.”

This achievement comes on the heels of other recent successes for Hisense, including being named the Best TV Brand of 2024 by MyBroadband and becoming the world’s second-largest TV producer in 2023.

FEATURES OF THE 100-INCH U7K ULED MINI-LED TV

The Hisense 100 U7K is headlined by four major technologies — Mini-LED, Quantum Dot Colour, Hisense’s Hi-View Engine, and Game Mode Pro for gamers.

  • Mini-LED: Delivers excellent brightness and contrast, with deep blacks due to backlighting control.
  • Quantum Dot Colour: Ensures accurate colour reproduction.
  • Hi-View Engine: Provides smooth performance on the 144Hz panel.

Hisense also packed the 100 U7K with an extensive range of HDR technologies, including Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive.

The 100-inch U7K TV will launch in South Africa in early June 2024, with a recommended retail price of R79 999.

HISENSE IN SOUTH AFRICA

Hisense’s factory in SA was established in 2013 as a regional manufacturing base for local and export markets.

Since its inception, the factory has been upgrading its tech and increasing production capacity for TVs and refrigerators.

In 2022, Hisense successfully shipped its first batch of South African-made combi refrigerators to the United Kingdom.

This marked the first time the electronics company exported products made in South Africa to the European market, highlighting the factory’s evolution into a global production hub.
