Why Nasreddine Nabi is the ideal coach for Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have settled on Nasreddine Nabi as their next coach and here are three reasons why they’ve made the right choice
Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be going all out to secure the services of coach Nasreddine Nabi by next season.
Chiefs have been searching high and wide for a new coach, with candidates coming from different continents.
There have been established coaches like Vanderlei Luxembergo, Pitso Mosimane, Raul Caneda, Jose Peseiro, Rui Vitoria and Alexandre Santos mentioned. There have also been some interesting left suggestions like Sead Ramovic, Roger de Sa, Ace Khuse and Patrick Aussems. In the end Chiefs seem to have made a decision to return to a devil they have already dealt with. This in the form of Nabi who is now poised to join Amakhosi as they hope to kickstart a new and successful era.
THREE REASONS WHY NABI IS THE RIGHT CANDIDATE
If Chiefs do end up getting the Nabi deal over the line, it would be a great appointment for the club, well…at least on paper and here are THREE reasons why!
- Nabi is a ‘No-nonsense’ coach:
Chiefs have, with their last three appointments in Arthur Zwane, Molefi Ntseki and Cavin Johnson, had reserved characters. They did not exhibit an charisma that screams of the club they’re coaching, nor did they strike fear in their opponents. It can then be argued that they didn’t command much respect in the dressing room either. The results also seem to prove that. They trio were also appointments that were never going to demand much from the management and could never challenge them on their shortcomings. Nabi has already put his foot down once with the club, and they now know what type of character they’re chasing. He will walk into the team dressing and command respective but also lift the morale and confidence. He will also eradicate any complacency and mentalities that don’t belong at the club.
2. Nabi is a winner!
Nabi’s track record points to one thing, he is a serial winner! A man that has won league titles and made his teams competitive on the continent, almost everywhere he has gone. During his two years at Yanga SC, he won six trophies, including going invincible to win the league in his debut season. Winning a double treble during his time in Tanzania. In 2012, he also won the CAF Confederation Cup with AC Leopards, before finishing runners up with Yanga in the 2023. Can he bring Chiefs back to African football?
3. Attacking style of football.
IS HE THE ONE TO RETURN THE GLORY DAYS AT CHIEFS?
Nabi is known for his signature attacking style of football! In his debut season at Yanga, where he went unbeaten, his side scored 49 goals while only conceding eight. Even now in the Moroccan league, his team has scored the most goals with 63, while conceding the second fewest ( 22). He also only lost three times in 29 matches. Chiefs have struggled in front of goals and leaked goals at the back no matter who they’ve bought. Has the coaching been the problem all this time?
