Bafana Bafana have suffered a huge injury blow ahead of Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final with Nigeria. On Tuesday, Coach Hugo Broos confirmed to journalists that Thapelo Maseko’s AFCON tournament is over with a hamstring injury. Maseko pulled a hamstring when they beat Cape Verde on penalties in the quarter-finals on Saturday night. According to Broos, Maseko will not be replaced by any of the players who are on standby, meaning the left-footer will remain with the team until they return home. Meanwhile, they will be playing in the AFCON semifinals for the first time in 24 years. The last time the South Africans reached the semifinals of AFCON was in 2000 under the tutelage of Trott Moloto.
