UWC proved no match for UCT Ikeys in their Cape derby with the latter running out 91-9 winners.
There was also an impressive win for another Cape side, Maties, who travelled to Bloemfontein and toppled log-leaders UFS Shimlas 38-29.
In other matches, CUT put up a brave effort in going down 53-46 to defending champions NWU Eagles, while UJ proved too strong for Wits in their Gauteng derby, winning 49-26.
A look at the updated log standings shows that four teams have distanced themselves from the chasing pack in the fight for semi-final spots.
NWU Eagles lead the way on 25 points, followed by UCT Ikeys, Maties and UFS Shimlas all on 23 points.
At the bottom of the log, UWC (1 point) are the only winless team and are certain to finish the season bottom of the standings.
