Criminal law expert, Nthabiseng Dubazana, emphasised the significance of Gabuza’s explanation. According to Dubazana, “[Tomorrow], there will be an inquiry to understand why he did not appear in court during the last appearance,” as quoted by the Sunday World.
FORMER ORLANDO PIRATES STRIKER CONSEQUENCES
Should Gabuza’s explanation fall short, a warrant of arrest will be issued. Resulting in the cancellation of his bail and his immediate incarceration. Dubazana cautioned, “If the magistrate is not satisfied with the explanation, then the warrant of arrest is confirmed, bail is cancelled, and forfeited to the state. He will then be remanded in custody.”
Gabuza’s legal woes began when he failed to appear in court on January 29, 2024, for a charge of malicious damage to property. Despite being out on R3,000 bail, his repeated court absences have raised eyebrows. This has garnered attention from both the media and legal experts.
