The bulk of the Swallows squad went on strike in December, an act that has since cost them their jobs. That seemed to include Allen, who was one of the key players who formed part of the dismissed 28. This strike saw the Swallows players withdraw from their last two games of 2023, which proved costly to the club. The PSL ended up fining the Dube Birds a cool R1 million for failing to honour those fixtures. They did, however, receive the leniency of having R600 000 of it suspended. With the club already cash-strapped, that was a sanction they could ill afford. They then also decided to take action on the players who had decided against playing, effectively firing them. Furthermore, the league granted three points to both of their opponents in Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows

“SuperSport United FC is pleased to announce the signature of defender Keegan Allan on a free transfer from Moroka Swallows. Keegan is yet another product of the SuperSport United Soccer Schools where he developed his football before leaving to study and play football for Tuks. He then went onto join Moroka Swallows in the 2022/23 season, and during his one and a half-year stay at the club he quickly established himself as an ever present at the heart of their defence, playing over 30 games. The 22-year-old was called up to the Bafana Bafana squad for the COSAFA Cup tournament in 2023 and helped his side to lift the trophy, having played three matches under his belt and will look to add more caps during his stay at Matsatsantsa.” Wrote the club on a X thread.
