Sundowns break another record, Mokwena on set pieces
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena reveals their stunning set-piece technique as they broke another PSL record.
Mamelodi Sundowns broke another PSL record after a win over SuperSport United on Wednesday night – Rhulani Mokwena speaks about set pieces.
Under Mokwena, Sundowns also broke another PSL record by clinching their ninth league win in a row as they returned to their domestic assignments.

The Brazilians, Sundowns returned to the top of the log table breaking another record, as they scored through Peter Shalulile and Lucas Ribeiro.
The Brazilian striker, Ribeiro scored through a set piece after receiving a clever chip from Neo Maema at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Speaking to SuperSport TV after the match, an elated Mokwena congratulated his Sundowns players and technical team – he explained their set pieces.
Looking at the log table, Sundowns now have 27 points and they are yet to lose a single match since the start of the season.

Mokwena and his Sundowns troops returned to the domestic scene after playing their last match in September – thus highlighting their supreme dominance.
“I don’t like taking credit for things, but ya… you can have the ideas, it comes as an idea but it’s the execution of the players so I wanna congratulate the players for that,” Sundowns coach Mokwena said about Costa’s goal from a set-piece.
“I also wanna congratulate my technical team, when I came with it, it got their support, especially the set-piece coaches, Michael [Loftman] and Wendell [Robinson], they supported it and worked, and it was good to see it came off.”

In addition, Sundowns midfielder Maema who was the provider of the set piece which was converted by Ribeiro, he says it all came from training.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic star’s creativity got tongues wagging when he was seemingly walking away from the ball, and went on to show finesse by running back, chipping it over the wall for Costa to control and finish it with a stunning volley.

“It’s thing we do at training and coach said if we have the confidence to actually execute it when it comes, why not [do it], so today it works for us, so in the next games we’ll try the other ones we have,” he told SuperSport TV after the game.
The reigning DStv Premiership champions, Sundowns will now turn their attention to CAF Champions League rivals TP Mazembe whom they meet this weekend away from home.
