Stormers hoping cash injection helps them bag Springbok
The Stormers are hoping that an injection of cash comes quickly enough for them to convince the Springbok lock to come to Cape Town.
The Stormers have reportedly entered the race to sign Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok RG Snyman but their hopes hinge on securing the cash-injection promised by their new equity partners.
According to reports, Red Disa, the new equity partners of Western Province Rugby, are aiming to entice the Springbok back to South Africa with a tempting offer of R13 million, or around £550,000. Because Snyman is a Player of National Interest, which means the governing body will pay a share of his wage – maybe up to R9 million.
Last month, Snyman’s current team, Munster, announced that they would only be keeping one Springboks lock, after Jean Kleyn signed a new contract, forcing the former Bulls star to hunt for a new team for the upcoming season.

STORMERS WANT SPRINGBOK LOCK
Soon after Snyman’s departure was confirmed, as was to be expected, speculations began to circulate. It wasn’t until recently that L’Equipe revealed that Snyman had signed a contract with Bath for an annual sum of £450,000. Those reports have yet to be confirmed and it seems that the Stormers want to hijack the deal.

The outstanding lock would now be reunited with Johann van Graan, who, when still the Irish province’s coach, was in charge of introducing the Springbok to Munster in the first place.
The Stormers are reportedly interested in signing Snyman as well, according to Rapport, after the Bulls and Sharks were put off by his high price.
CAN SNYMAN BE LURED TO CAPE TOWN?
Finding the money in time is the biggest worry because Red Disa’s equity agreement just closed and is still being implemented. This may have a significant impact on how the transfer drama unfolds.

With his exceptional offloading skills, Snyman would be a fantastic addition to the Stormers and really enhance the free-flowing style of the Cape Town squad while giving them more grunt up front.
