For these SEVEN Springboks, their Rugby World Cup is likely over – from a playing perspective at least.

With the Rugby World Cup entering the crunch stages, fringe players are no longer likely to feature for the Boks.

Therefore, these SEVEN players are unlikely to play again at this year’s Rugby World Cup barring any unforeseen injuries.

SPRINGBOKS UNLIKELY TO FEATURE IN REST OF RUGBY WORLD CUP 2023

Vincent Koch, Marvin Orie, Jaden Hendrikse, Grant Williams, Andre Esterhuizen and Canan Moodie are unlikely to play for the rest of the Rugby World Cup.

We know the Boks will be starting with Frans Malherbe with Trevor Nyakane likely t provide back up off the bench since he can cover tighthead and loosehead and he has been packing in some huge scrums with Ox Nche lately. In contrast, Eben Etzebeth and Franco Mostert are the first-choice locks with RG Snyman the main back-up. If the Boks opt for a 7-1 split than Jean Kleyn will start ahead of Orie.

BACKS SET TO FORM BACK-UP

Amongst the backs, Williams has been a livewire but Faf de Klerk and Cobus Reinach are ahead of him in the picking order. The same can be said for Jaden Hendrikse who likely played his final match against Tonga.

Furthermore, Esterhuizen has been brilliant and is arguably the unluckiest player on this list to miss out. However, Jacques Nienaber and Rassie Erasmus have stood firm on their selection and backing of Damien de Allende. Finally, Moodie has a huge future ahead of him but for now the focus is on Springbok veteran Jesse Kriel and the return of Lukhanyo Am.

The formation of the backline will determine who plays and who misses out with a possible 5-3 split to favour playing Handre Pollard and Manie Libbok or a 7-1 closing the available spaces on the bench.

Please note: They will still form an integral role in training with the Boks as they help them prepare and will not be sent home.
