SAFA goes radio silent on Bafana bonuses
SAFA President, Danny Jordaan remained tight-lipped and avoided questions about the Bafana Bafana players’ bonuses
SAFA president, Danny Jordaan was present to welcome Bafana Bafana at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg when the team returned from the AFCON in Ivory Coast. He remained tight-lipped about the team bonuses.
The football boss, Jordaan decides to say the media contingent must ask the Bafana players about bonuses – the team boasts a bronze medal.

Under coach Hugo Broos, Bafana reached the semi-final of the Afcon showpiece and went on to beat DR Congo to finish third.
Ahead of the continental tournament, the Safa boss promised Bafana players they would smile to the bank but he is mum on bonuses.
Commenting on the bonus saga involving Bafana players, the Safa boss says it’s up to the players to disclose their bonuses.

Building up to the Afcon tournament, the Bafana camp was hit by a bonus saga as the Safa boss said the players would earn R7m if they won the trophy.
However, the embattled football boss later changed his tune, saying, it was a matter of a mix-up in currencies as Bafana are set to bag a cool R47m.

“We don’t know,” Safa boss Jordaan said to the media about Bafana player bonuses.
“We must wait on Caf. The tournament ended on Sunday and you want the results already. Caf will let us know when they’re ready.

“The players know what they’ve agreed. You must ask them.
“That is something we must discuss and finalise with the players first. Whether they disclose it to you is their business.
“It is their money. It is their income and they will decide whether they want to disclose it to you [the media] or not.
“Of course, this effort must be rewarded.”

Bafana skipper and Goalkeeper of the Tournament, Ronwen Williams, says they know the amount they will receive as a bonus.
Per various media reports, the 23 Bafana players will pocket a staggering R1 million per player as a bonus reward.
