Rhulani not happy with Bafana over Modiba
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena has sent a message to Bafana Bafana’s medical team: Aubrey Modiba was overused.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS STAR AUBREY MODIBA INJURED ON BAFANA DUTY, RHULANI NOT AMUSED
After playing in the 2-1 win over Benin last Saturday and in the 2-0 loss to Rwanda on Tuesday in the World Cup qualifiers, Sundowns’ Modiba has arrived at Chloorkop in a bad way.
According to Rhulani Mokwena, Modiba should not have played two matches.
“This FIFA break is a very difficult one because it had World Cup Qualifiers, particularly for Bafana, and they came on the back of a hectic schedule for our players,” Mokwena said, as quoted by FARPost.

“There was an overload. Even Hugo Broos mentioned it in one of his press conferences. And it’s also interesting for me because I get to watch our players play in different positions.
“It’s nice to see Modiba play left-back for Bafana. I like it because for us he plays a different role, so it’s very interesting to see the adaptation.
“Sailor [Khuliso Mudau] plays a little bit of a different role, Teboho [Mokwena] also plays a double pivot with Sphephelo Sithole.
“I’m a bit disappointed because Modiba comes back with an injury you know and the information I get is that there was already the pain but he still had to play two 90 minutes on an artificial turf like that in Rwanda with the injury.
“And now we might have Modiba out for a little bit longer, ” the African Football League champion coach added.

MOTHOBI MVALA TO MISS OUT THIS WEEKEND
With Sundowns returning to CAF Champions League action in the group stage against Mauritania’s FC Nouadhibou on Sunday, Rhulani Mokwena has suggested that his clutch central defender Mvala will face a late fitness test.
“Mothobi now also comes back from Bafana with an injury,” Mokwena added.
“So that for me is also worrying because I haven’t had Mothobi on the pitch today [at training],” the Sundowns mentor concluded.
Meanwhile, Bafana will return to the green grass on 16 January in an AFCON 2024 opener against the mighty Mali in the Ivory Coast.
Bafana’s second battle will be Namibia on the 21st, before Tunisia on January 24.
