Mokwena and Sundowns lost their Carling Knockout Last 16 match to TS Galaxy who faced Stellies in the final – the coach reacts to the final win.

Speaking to the media while in Egypt for their CAF Champions League match against Pyramids on Tuesday, Mokwena says he is happy for Stellies coach Steve Barker.
He says the former University of Pretoria mentor is a good servant of the game and the football Gods were there for his side.

Mokwena now says the Cape Winelands-based side’s coach and players have been working hard and were consistent.
“Great to hear that Stellenbosch were crowned Black Label Champions, it’s been coming, they have been playing exceptionally well, especially the last couple of seasons, they’ve been strong, semi-finalists of most competitions and coming close,” Mokwena said.

“Eventually the football Gods repaid them and congratulations to Stevie Barker, who is a great man and great gentleman of football, he’s been in the game, and we look up to him as one of the Godfathers of the coaching fraternity in South African football.”
SUNDOWNS MENTOR SENDS MESSAGE TO STELLIES
The 36-year-old mentor, Mokwena also adds that as Sundowns, they are delighted for Barker and his troops.

“We want to extend incredibly congratulatory messages as us Mamelodi Sundowns, congratulations to Stellenbosch, the players, the technical team, the entire football club and management,” adds Mokwena.
Meanwhile, the Brazilians are placed at the summit of Group A in the continental tournament and their match gets underway at 18:00 at 30 June Stadium in Cairo.
