Rachel Kolisi, wife of South Africa’s beloved Springbok rugby captain, Siya Kolisi, has made a young rugby fan’s dream come true.
We all sobbed in unison when we watched an emotional Helpmekaar College schoolboy – Lebo Mogoma – have his rugby boot signed by the Springboks during the Victory Tour in Pretoria.

Rachel saw that video and started a search to find the young man who captured the joy and emotion, the tears and pride, that the whole of South Africa (and the country’s expats) felt after the Rugby World Cup win.
Today she posted a photo with Lebo and said: “Thank you to everyone who helped me get in touch with Lebo! And to @playerschoiceza for having us last night.”
15-year-old Lebo joined the Kolisi’s at the BrightRock Players Choice Awards last night!
“We managed to video call Lebo’s hero – @cheslin15 (Cheslin Kolbe) just before the awards started and Ches organized that Lebo collect his (Backline Player of the Year) award on his behalf.” (Cue more tears!!!!)
Rachel revealed that Lebo and his mom have had “a really tough year” but added that thankfully “a few small acts of kindness have really turned things around for them.
“It’s cool to be kind,” she said.
