Orlando Pirates are in advanced talks with SuperSport to make Thalente Mbatha’s loan move permanent.

MBATHA HAS BEEN A REVELATION FOR ORLANDO PIRATES

According to The Citizen, Pirates coach Jose Riveiro and his technical staff are delighted with the progress of loan signing Thalente Mbatha. Indeed, they’re already advancing in negotiations to make his move permanent. The 24-year-old central midfielder joined the club in January on a six-month loan deal with an option to buy and has quickly become a key player in the starting XI. He’s made five league appearances and turned out twice in the Nedbank Cup, providing an assist in each competition.

MBATHA TICKS MANY BOXES

“Everyone can see that Mbatha has been exceptional for Pirates, he is a top player with great qualities. He is a good sportsman with a great attitude and eagerness to learn. I think that’s what makes him stand out among his peers,” said a source close to The Citizen.

“The club has started discussing his future with his parent club SuperSport United and a deal is close.”

BUCS BOSS DISCUSSES RETURNING MABASA

Pirates manager Jose Riveiro is delighted that Tshegofatso Mabasa is back among the goals in the absence of Bafana star Evidence Makgopa. All three of his strikes since returning have come in the Nedbank Cup, including one against Crystal Lake and a brace vs Hungry Lions. The defending champions face AmaZulu in the quarter-finals next. Mabasa, along with Patrick Maswanganyi, form an exciting, new-look Buccaneers attack.

“All of them (strikers) when they are on the field have a difficult job to do. And so far Tshego is doing well, it is good for him and the team because he’s finding the net, which is important for a number nine.”
