ORLANDO PIRATES PLAYERS WHO SUPPORTED KAIZER CHIEFS

Winger Helman Mkhalele represented Pirates and Jomo Cosmos with distinction, but grew up supporting Amakhosi and long harboured dreams of representing them. Another pair of legendary strikers represented the Buccaneers but had a soft spot for the Glamour Boys, namely Jerry Sikhosana and Benni McCarthy. Benni remains the first and only South African to taste success in the UEFA Champions League.

Teko Modise, known for his craft and invention in midfield, was a star for both Sundowns and Pirates but grew up supporting Amakhosi, like his father. Like Modise, midfielder Dokgang Mabalane also supported Chiefs as a youngster but never represented them, instead turning out for two other Soweto giants in the shape of Pirates and Swallows.
