New contract offer confirmed for Kaizer Chiefs star
In an extreme twist, Kaizer Chiefs have now offered a new contract to a player who was believed to be dead and buried at the club!
Kaizer Chiefs are set to make wholesale changes, both on and off the field with new coaches and players.
Chiefs are expected to announce a new coach imminently, and release a whole host of players in the process.
Players like Siyethemba Sithebe and Sifiso Hlanti have been mentioned, with their deals up soon. They have been joined by Happy Mashiane and Zitha Kwinika of late. One player that has been fighting those exit rumours at Chiefs is Njabulo Ngcobo. Now besides those names, the likes of Edmilson Dove, George Matlou and Keagan Dolly will see their contracts run out.
Sithebe is the one player that was thought to be nailed on for an exit at Chiefs, the dreadlocked midfielder hardly featured under both Molefi Ntseki and Cavin Johnson. Yes, he has been injured for the bulk of the season, but before and after his knock, he was not being considered for match day squads. It then came as a surprise when he was selected to start the 0-0 draw against Cape Town City. He then also started the loss to Stellenbosch.
CHIPPA UNITED WANT SITHEBE
Last month, the publication reported that Chiefs were considering a contract renewal for Sithebe. This would’ve not been plausible for many of an Amakhosi persuasion at the start of the year. It was then reported that the club were lining up a fresh two-year deal for the player. But on Wednesday this publication reported the player is still in danger of leaving the club.
Should Sithebe leave Chiefs, he is believed to be attracting interest from two KZN clubs. Those being Golden Arrows and his former side AmaZulu. But that’s not it. According to his agent and brother Sihlangu Sithebe, Chippa United have confirmed their interest in the player.
But that does not mean that Chiefs have given up on keeping Sithebe, who they’ve offered a new deal!
CHIEFS OFFER NEW DEAL!
“We met with the Chiefs management two weeks ago, they confirmed that they will give him (Siyethemba) a new contract. We were supposed to meet again this week but it was found that Junior (Motaung) is out of the country. Now we will meet at the beginning of next week to finish everything, the aim is for him to stay at Chiefs as he has been given a new contract,” said Sithebe to Isolezwe.
With Chiefs looking to start afresh next season, should Sithebe assess the options on the table. He is likely to be a regular started at Chippa, AmaZulu or Arrows,
