Pitso Mosimane’s Abha Club were relegated from the Saudi Pro League after a 2-1 defeat against bottom-placed Al-Hazem on Monday night.

After a goalless first half, Eritrea’s Ahmed Abdu Jaber gave Abha Club some hope by breaking the deadlock just two minutes into the second half.

However, Mosimane’s side couldn’t maintain their lead as Muhammed Badamosi equalised in the 58th minute.

The situation worsened for Jingles’s side when Mohammed Al-Thani scored, giving the home team a 2-1 advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.

Abha’s star player Grzegorz Krychowiak had a chance to level matters deep into stoppage time, but he failed to convert a penalty.

WHAT NEXT FOR PITSO MOSIMANE?

The result saw Abha Club relegated to the Saudi First Division League for the 2024/25 season.

Whether Mosimane will still be charge come the opening day of the new season remains to be seen.

Abha Club joined Al-Tai and Al-Hazem as the three clubs relegated from the Saudi Pro League.

Mosimane’s side ended the season with just 32 points from 34 matches, having conceded a whopping 87 goals.

They scored 38 goals, leaving them with a league-worst goal differential of -49.

With Mosimane’s contract expiring at the end of June, all eyes will turn to his future plans.

No doubt the ongoing speculation linking Mosimane to Kaizer Chiefs will intensify as Amakhosi seek to appoint a new coach ahead of the next DStv Premiership season.
