The left-footed wizard played an integral role in Pirates victories in both the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup. Saleng’s impact last season may have caught many by surprise, having been on loan during the previous. Coach Jose Riveiro showed belief in the player who ended up repaying him. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, that has prompted Pirates to look for a possible loan move for Saleng.
PIRATES TO LOAN MONNAPULE SALENG OUT?
“The thing is he (Saleng) is not playing regularly this season and the club (Pirates) feels he needs to get some game time and rediscover his form. That’s why they want him to go out on loan. It’s not a finalised move yet because they are looking at a team or teams which would be interested in getting him on loan until the end of the season. Then when he comes back maybe he could rediscover his form. That’s why the team wants to send him out on loan,” said one source to the publication.

A second sources explained that Pirates were only interested in a loan agreement, with Saleng still part of the plans.
STILL PART OF THE LONG-TERM PLANS?
“I don’t think it’s the end of the road for him. He still has a contract with the club. His contract only expires in 2025 so they want to give him the chance to play and when he comes back he can fight for his place again. It’s just that now there are players who are doing better than him and those are the players playing ahead of him. The technical SuperSport team feels a United loan move will do well for him mainly looking ahead to next season,” said the source.

It would certainly come as an unexpected turn of events if Saleng does indeed leave Pirates in any capacity. It could, however, turn out to be a masterstroke that proves to keep all parties happy.
