Recently, Sundowns were rumoured to be involved in a race with Orlando Pirates to try to secure the services of Congolese striker Andy Boyeli. Boyeli is a striker who currently plies his trade in the Zambian league for Power Dynamos. Things had gone quiet on the front for about a week, before last week’s reports suggested Veldwijk had different expectations. It was reported that the target man was ready to join Sundowns if they offered at least a 2-year deal. MAMELODI SUNDOWNS CHANGE MINDS ON VELDWIJK
“Mamelodi Sundowns have pulled out of the transfer of Lars Veldwijk, who had been offered a short-term deal with the DStv Premiership champions. iDiski Times understands the club have now opted against signing Veldwijk with the technical team divided on his potential role in the squad, despite it potentially being a short-term move for the seven-time capped Bafana Bafana striker. Sundowns look set to make one more addition to their squad before the window shuts after the arrival of the Argentine (Matías Esquivel) and right-back Zuko Mdunyelwa, who joined from Chippa United.” Wrote the publication.
