Mamelodi Sundowns to tie down Orlando Pirates target!
Orlando Pirates were rumoured to have signed a Mamelodi Sundowns star during the off-season but the move did not materialise
Mamelodi Sundowns are set to deal Orlando Pirates a big blow by renewing the contract of one their targets.

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have, in the past, been known to do transfer dealings with each other, despite being rivals.

Recently Pirates have been able to sign Kermit Erasmus and also get Lesedi Kapinga on a free transfer. Another player who was rumoured to be on the verge of swapping Sundowns for Soweto is centre back Mosa Lebusa. It came as one of the shock rumours of the previous window, especially as it came in a rigorous manner.

Reports had gone as far as claiming that Lebusa had already signed for Pirates and the club would announce the deal. It seemed to make sense in the end, however, as the Buccaneers had been linked to a centre back signing all window, but to no success to that point. In the end, they didn’t end up signing anybody, with the lanky star also staying put at Sundowns.

Since staying at Sundowns, Lebusa has had a surprise turn un fortunes, which has seen him playing a key role. He also came in to start the African Football League final against Wydad Casablanca, helping the team to victory. Those performances seem to have seen the Brazilians management consider extending his contract at the club.

“What (Sundowns) they are doing is that they just want to keep their prominent players as much as they can and that’s why they are giving longer contracts to them. You know they did (a similar) thing with Mvala. They are using the European model to make sure that they are always ahead with contracts of their top players. Even the new ones they are signing, they give them long contracts. And now they have offered Mosa (Lebusa) a three-year contract,” said the source to Soccer-Laduma.

It is unclear whether or not Pirates are still interested in Lebusa, if they are? They better move fast before Sundowns lock him down.
