Mamelodi Sundowns could be without their Bafana Bafana stars when the DStv Premiership resumes next week.

Masandawana will face Arrows on Wednesday without some of their key players who are currently in Ivory Coast representing the national team at the African Cup of Nations(Afcon).

Bafana are expected to only arrive back in the country in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos said this week that he would field a strong line-up against DR Congo in their third-place match of the Afcon on Saturday. This means the coach will stick with eight Sundowns players in his lineup.

A total of 10 Sundowns players were selected to represent Bafana at this year’s Afcon. Ronwen Williams, Grant Kekana, Mothobi Mvala, Khuliso Mudau, Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena, Themba Zwane, Thapelo Maseko, Terrence Mashego and Thapelo Morena are all Downs players that are part of the national team.

BAFANA’S GAIN IS MAMELODI SUNDOWNS’ LOSS

The likelihood is that Sundowns will be without some of the players when they face Orlando Pirates next weekend.

The Buccaneers are also affected as several of their players are also in Ivory Coast.
