Mamelodi Sundowns launch deadline bid for Pirates star!

Mamelodi Sundowns could be on the verge of pulling off the huge signing of an Orlando Pirates talisman.

Sundowns have been in the market searching to bolster an already powerful squad, with a Pirates star being their latest target.

Sundowns are already being the form team of the DStv Premiership, leading the log with a six point gap. Furthermore, they have three games in hand over their closest competitors, Cape Town City in second. Continentally, they have also excelled, having won the Inaugural African Football League late last year. Despite all of this dominance, they are not resting on their laurels when it comes to bolstering their squad.

Already during this transfer window, Sundowns have completed the signings of Zuko Mdunyelwa and Matias Esquivel. Those players are set to boost their right back and midfield stocks which are already overflowing. Up front they have the likes of Peter Shalulile and Ribeiro Costa but still sought the services of Lars Veldwijk. The move for the Bafana Bafana target man is believed to be withdrawn as reported earlier.

That has not stopped Sundowns from rigorously attempting to secure other targets though. The latest of those targets being key Pirates playmaker Thembinkosi Lorch. According to iDiski Times The Brazilians are working hard around the clock to bring the player to Chloorkop!

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS EYE LORCH TRANSFER FROM PIRATES

“Mamelodi Sundowns are attempting to lure Orlando Pirates playmaker Thembinkosi Lorch to the club on transfer deadline day. Sources close to Pirates confirmed Lorch informed teammates that he could be leaving before the window shuts with personal terms agreed with Masandwana, however, should the two clubs not agree on a transfer fee – the move is likely to be on hold until June.” Wrote the publication.

Sundowns have held a long standing interest in Lorch, dating back to at least the 2019/2020 season. After an impressive campaign for Pirates, which saw him win PSL Player of the Year in 2018/2019 he was linked to a move abroad. That never materialised and the next best option was Masandawana. For years after, he has been linked with the Yellow Nation and could finally be set to join them.
