Khama Billiat was wrong to dump Chiefs: Dynamos boss
Dynamos chairman Vincent Chawonza has shared his opinion on Khama Billiat dumping Kaizer Chiefs, calling the move ‘wrong and misguided’
Dynamos chairman Vincent Chawonza says Khama Billiat is misguided and wrong to dump Kaizer Chiefs.
Billiat is the new addition to Yadah Stars FC in Zimbabwe but the Dynamos boss is unhappy by dumping Chiefs.
Chawonza argues that Billiat’s agents misguide him because he was not meant to dump Chiefs in the first place.
The Dynamos’ boss says this after Billiat signed Yadah this week as he was initially meant to join his side after dumping Chiefs.
Billiat left Amakhosi, Chiefs just before the start of the current season and spent several months without a club.
In addition, Chawonza claims that they agreed on a contract of $20 000 with the 33-year-old Billiat but he ended up changing his mind.
DYNAMOS BOSS: WHY KHAMA BILLIAT WAS MISGUIDED TO DUMP CHIEFS
The chairman, argues that the ex-Chiefs star, Billiat made wrong decisions because of people around him, saying the striker is the one who started the talks with his team.
“People who are around him (Billiat) are ill-advising him,” Chiwonza says to NewsDay about a misguided ex-Chiefs star, Billiat.
“I think the blame goes to his managers, starting with the decision not to renew his stay at Kaizer Chiefs.
“He was wrong to leave Kaizer Chiefs in the first place.
“We promised him US$10 000 (over R191 000) this week on Thursday and the other US$10 000 next week.
“But Yadah gave him US$15 000 (over R285 000) on the spot.
“With us, his salary was going to be US$3 000 (over R55 000).”
BILLIAT LEAVES CHIEFS AFTER SALARY CUT SPECULATION
Various media outlets report that Billiat decided to dump Chiefs after talks to take a pay cut.
“I think he listens too much to the people who are around him, yet they are ill-advising him,” adds the boss about agents misguiding Billiat.
“But it all boils down to his management because they are not leading him well.
“He is the one who initiated talks with us during George Chigova’s funeral.
“Everything was on course until Tuesday.”
