And that’s because the team has been in Gauteng for their MTN8 appointment with Orlando Pirates last week, and a league match with Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
Now, Matsheke, who was recently close to joining Casric Stars, was invited over by Barker following the departure of Mthethwa to Chiefs.

Barker said Stellies are looking to fill the void left by Mthethwa but they want to sign someone with similar attributes in midfield.
Matsheke can still sign with a team of choice simply because he was already a free agent when the transfer window closed last week.

“Ja, no, we are going to look at him. We want to assess where he’s at, but it’s been difficult because he only joined us whilst we’ve been here in Gauteng, and we didn’t go back after the Pirates game [on Sunday],” said Barker as per SABC Sport.

“So, obviously, Monday was a light session because of the match on Sunday, and yesterday [Tuesday] was a light session because of the match [against Sundowns], so he’ll travel back with the squad [on Thursday], and we’ll give him an opportunity.”
“With the little bit I’ve seen over the last few days, I’ve been suitably impressed. But we’ll give him a good assessment and we’ll take it from there.”

“We pride ourselves and trust in our young players. We take pride in the processes that we’ve put in place, and I can guarantee you that our log position is not showing our true performances over the first eight matches,” he added.
“So, we look at performances and we know that we are not far from turning this corner and going on a really good run [of results].”
