With that, many would have to compliment the Chiefs defence for their solidity, and expect that a consistent run be given to that particular defensive unit.
REJIGGED BACK FIVE DOES THE JOB
That defence was marshalled at the back by Bruce Bvuma, who made his first start for Chiefs in over a year. In front of him where Sifiso Hlanti, Edmilson Dove, Given Msimango and Reeve Frosler. The Amakhosi defence has lacked consistency throughout the campaign with various factors contributing to that.

At the start of the season, Chiefs lined up with a back five of Brandon Petersen, Sifiso Hlanti, Thatoayane Dithlokwe, Given Msimango and Reeve Frosler. Then the likes of Itumeleng Khune, Zitha Kwinika, Dove and Njabulo Ngcobo started to enter the fray. The changes have also coincided with the club’s struggles with keeping a clean sheet during the current campaign. Although that might worry the club’s supporters, certain members in the squad might be licking their lips at the prospect of getting an opportunity in the team as well.

MCCARTHY SET FOR KAIZER CHIEFS DEBUT?
One of those players, who will be waiting patiently from the outside, is young centre back Aden McCarthy, son of club legend Fabian McCarthy. The youngster has impressed for the Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge this season, while also maintaining consistency at that level for the club over numerous years and various coaches. That consistency has seen him feature in senior team training and rare match day squads.

Now according to The Citizen McCarthy could see his senior Chiefs debut coming very soon.
ONLY A MATTER OF TIME FOR KAIZER CHIEFS HOPEFUL?
“Aden has been a good example for many youngsters for many years now. He is a kid who loves to play football and wants to do everything to perfection. He is a hard worker, which is what all the coaches love about him. He is really getting close to making his debut for the senior team. And I won’t be surprised because he has been playing very well in the Diski Challenge,”. Said the source to the same publication.

With an already congested list at centre back for Chiefs, which includes new signing Luke Fleurs now having also joined the side, it remains to be seen when McCarthy will eventually get his chance.
