KAIZER CHIEFS STILL KEEN ON MATTHEWS
Seen as a potential long-term replacement for Keagan Dolly, Matthews has most recently been plying his trade in Sweden for IF Sirius. The 23-year-old, who hasn’t yet been capped for Bafana Bafana, is on the Amakhosi shopping list.
“You remember we talked about Tashreeq (Matthews) before? The club had continued to monitor him with the main aim of bringing him on board,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

“But that was with a different technical team. The scouting and the sporting department work hard with the technical team but they want the new coach to have a say on which players he wants in the team.
“So for now only the new coach will determine whether Tashreeq is signed or not but as a team in general they are interested in his services.”

MATTHEWS IS STILL A DISTANCE PROSPECT
Tashreeq Matthews remains a target for Chiefs but a deal isn’t necessarily on the table just yet.
“As much as the new coach will determine the signing of Tashreeq Matthews he will also be looking at which players the team needs to keep or release so I think it will happen during the transfer window period in January,” the source adds.
“Or it could be in July around the off-season time (for Matthews’ signing). What I can tell you though is that Tashreeq Matthews is still on the club’s wanted list as it stands now.”
