Having looked at Ashley Cupido earlier in the window along side rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, it now looks as if they will return.
So far Chiefs have announced, Thathayoane Ditlhokwe, Given Msimango, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Edson Castillo, Pule Mmodi, Ranga Chivaviro and Tebogo Potsane. In a balancing act, Chiefs have also seen seven players leaving their squad, the likes of Eric Mathoho, Siyabonga Ngezana, Phathutshedzo Nange, Cole Alexander, Khama Billiat, Austin Dube and Kgaogelo Sekgota all leaving Naturena. Now according to the latest reports, they’re no longer set to release an eighth in the shape of striker Caleb Bimenyimana.

The Burundi international striker had been believed to be close to joining Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca. It was thought that a deal had already been agreed by the two clubs, with just the personal terms now outstanding, on the player’s side. That move has since collapsed, with the new coach seemingly not fancing Bimenyimana, and Molefi Ntseki confirming his return. On top that, team manager Bobby Motaung confirmed that Chiefs are indeed looking to beef up their attack, but not with Gabadinho Mhango, who media reports claimed he was close to joining. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, Cupido might be the player they are eyeing.
CHIEFS LOOKING TO BID FOR CUPIDO
“According to well-placed Siya sources, Amakhosi will be looking to test newly promoted Cape Town Spurs’ resolve over their star striker (Cupido). The Glamour Boys had enquired about the 21-year-old before, however, the Urban Warriors made it clear that they would be holding on to the marksman for at least one more season in the top flight, before considering any offer for now. Now, news reaching Soccer-Laduma, is that Chiefs are willing to push the boundary to land the player and are ready to enter into talks with the Ikamva-based outfit for his signature” wrote the publication.

Cupido scored 15 goals for Spurs in the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season, before a further strike in the playoffs. At just the age of 21, he could be a great signing for the current and long-term plan for Chiefs, especially seeing as though Chivaviro joins at 30-years-old.
