Pitso Mosimane will nervously await the outcome of a meeting between Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaizer Chiefs cult hero Knowledge Musona on Thursday, 23 May.
CRISTIANO RONALDO WILL HAVE A SAY IN THE SAUDI PRO LEAGUE RELEGATION SCRAP
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr side failed in their quest to win the title this season. However, they can still have a huge say in matters at the foot of the table. Their next match is against Knowledge Musona’s Al-Riyadh. Pitso Mosimane will be desperate for CR7 and the boys to hand Musona’s team a defeat as Jingles’ men could then leapfrog Al-Riyadh with a win against Al-Khaleej. Abha vs Al-Khaleej and Al-Riyadh vs Al Nassr kick off on Thursday 23 May in a potentially pivotal day in the Saudi Pro League survival race and Pitso’s career.
FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS STAR KNOWLEDGE MUSONA’S CLUB ISN’T SAFE YET
We know Pitso’s Abha club are in deep trouble with just two games left in the Saudi Pro League season. They’re two points adrift of safety after a 5-1 hammering at the hands of his old club Al Ahli Saudi. Goal-scorers included Algeria and Man City legend Riyad Mahrez and Ivorian midfield dynamo Franck Kessie.
Jingles’ mandate was to keep Abha in the top flight. If they get relegated, that’ll undoubtedly be a huge stain on his otherwise stellar managerial career. If they can climb out of the bottom three after they clash with Al-Khaleej, they’ll fancy their chances on the final day against bottom club Al-Hazm. Al-Tai currently occupy the final safety spot in 15th with 31 points. Al-Tai, of course, is Knowledge Musona’s old club and only above Al-Riyadh by a superior +1 goal difference. They face the champions Al-Hilal next and then have a crunch clash with fellow strugglers Al-Akhdoud on the final day. Pitso will hope that Al-Tai falls apart in the remainder of the season to hand his side the initiative to claim safety and top-flight status for next year. It’s going to the wire in Saudi Arabia this season.
WILL PITSO’S TEAM STEER THEMSELVES TO SAFETY?
