Kaizer Chiefs get Nasreddine Nabi in big trouble!
Kaizer Chiefs are expected to announce Nasreddine Nabi as thier new head coach imminently but may have put him in hot water with AS FAR!
It’s expected that Kaizer Chiefs will announce their new coach Nasreddine Nabi imminently, with the end of the month targeted.
Chiefs have been searching high and wide for their next coach, and had targeted a high profile appointment at that.
After what seemed to be a final shortlist of Pitso Mosimane, Alexandre Santos and Nabi. Mosimane was largely considered the ultimate favourite for Chiefs, but never looked like a viable option. That changed when his Abha Club got relegated from the Saudi Arabia topflight. But it seems like his availability came too late, with Amakhosi maybe having already made their decision.
NABI CONFIRMED CHIEFS OFFER
On the other hand, Santos was considered to be close to joining Chiefs, and was a strong favourite last month. His chances seemed to increase after he won the Angolan league for the third time in a row with Petro de Luanda. There was even more heat added when the club announced the Portuguese had left the club for a new challenge elsewhere. It was even thought he left because he believed he would be the next Amakhosi coach.
In a turn of events, Santos shot down the whole situation, admitting to talking to Chiefs but to no agreement. Nabi then emerged as an outright favourite and Amakhosi’s management looked to be going all out for him. He’s now expected to be confirmed as their coach after the Throne Cup semifinal fixture for his side AS FAR.
Now with an agreement reached between Chiefs and both Nabi and AS FAR the coach confirmed the offer. According to Soccer-Laduma, citing Moroccan press, the club was not happy with this!
AS FAR NOT HAPPY WITH HIM
“In the aftermath of their 2-0 victory over crosstown rivals FUS Rabat last week Friday, which was the final day of the season, the Monastir (Nabi) native confirmed he had been approached by Chiefs to take the reins at Naturena. According to Kooora, this statement angered the top brass at FAR because they had just lost out on the league, and still had a Moroccan Throne Cup semi-final against Maghreb Fes ahead.” Wrote the publication.
That is not expected to stop Nabi from sealing his move to Chiefs, however.
