Kaizer Chiefs edge out Spurs, Johnson singles out Ngcobo
Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson says Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is a player for the future after his performance against CPT Spurs.
Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson was full of praise for Nkosingiphile Ngcobo following the team’s 3-2 win over Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday evening.
The 23-year-old started Wednesday in the heart of midfield and impressed Johnson.

The young midfielder enjoyed game time under Gavin Hunt and was part of the team that went to the final of the Caf Champions League in 2021.

Ngcobo made 40 appearances, scoring four goals and providing four assists that season.
Since the departure of Hunt, the young midfielder struggled to find a place in the team.

Johnson says Ngcobo is one for the future.
“Mshini [Ngcobo] is the young Kaizer Chiefs player of the future,” he was quoted on FARPost.
“I think he just misses out on a lot of match fitness. But he had a big injury, a lot of you know that.

“He came back recently, he was out for a while, six months. So he’s just come back this season. He’s showing his capabilities. If we can get him ASAP back to where he should be then he will play more often,” Johnson said.
Chiefs next play Orlando Pirates this Saturday in a Soweto Derby.
