Following a rocky start to the league season prompting the departure of former coach Molefi Ntseki. Chiefs underwent a transformation under Johnson’s caretaker leadership. Despite their resurgence, Chiefs, like other contenders in the DStv Premiership, are still trailing log leaders Sundowns. The current champions are eyeing their seventh consecutive league title.

Ngcobo expresses confidence in Chiefs’ trajectory under Johnson’s guidance. Foreseeing a future where they can challenge Sundowns. He emphasises their commitment to training and teamwork as pivotal to bridging the gap.

“I think so and soon (Chiefs can topple Sundowns), the way we train, even now you can see we try to play, we try to pass one another, so I think if we can keep working hard we will reach that level, we’re not far off,” Kaizer Chiefs defender Ngcobo told journalists at a Vodacom campaign in Tembisa, as quoted by Kick Off.
While Chiefs demonstrated promise in the MTN8, falling short in the semi-finals against Sundowns. Their early exit in the Carling Knockout highlighted their inconsistency.

With the Nedbank Cup as their last shot at silverware this season. Kaizer Chiefs defender Ngcobo stresses the importance of clinching the trophy and performing well in upcoming matches to secure a top-three finish.
Navigating the challenges of adapting to the pressure at Chiefs compared to his previous club, Moroka Swallows. Ngcobo acknowledges the learning curve and aims to acclimate swiftly.
“Nedbank is a must, we need to win the Nedbank, we need to do well in the remaining games, I think if we can win (most of them), then we’ll have a good opportunity to be in the top three,” he said.
‘Mapholoba’ has been struggling for regular game-time and concluded that one of the challenging factors at Chiefs compared to his time at Moroka Swallows is pressure and feels he’s starting to get used to it.
“Pressure is there because it’s a big team, they teach us about pressure and soon I’ll get into gear,” Kaizer Chiefs defender, Ngcobo added.
