Cavin Johnson isn’t giving up on Kaizer Chiefs snatching a Caf place this season despite a dismal recent run.

Johnson has rubbished the suggestion that he is an interim coach as well.

KAIZER CHIEFS NOT GIVING UP ON CAF RACE

The coach admits that the team have been under pressure thanks to a poor run.

“I never say goodbye until the last game,” Johnson said according to the Hollywoodbets Blog.

“For us that [earning a CAF spot] isn’t out of our way and the players know that.

“It is a major pressure that we are under now but we have to break the pressure bubble somewhere.

“The tide has to turn for Kaizer Chiefs somewhere. We have to get better in front of goals because as far as ball possession is concerned and as far as playing the right players is concerned, I don’t think we are making mistakes.

“Again, it was one of those games where your opposition has one chance and gets a goal whereas you have 85% ball possession [in fact they had 63%] and you are not able to win the game.

“We are very angry with ourselves. I think we should have won the game in the first half because we got into the box quite a few times and we lacked calmness.”

NO SUCH THING AS INTERIM

Johnson had already insisted that the notion of an interim coach is one that gives fans the wrong idea.

He believes that he is fully in charge and directing the Glamour Boys‘ destiny

“I will tell you, I will really inform you there’s no such thing as interim coach. You take the team and you work until the team doesn’t need you anymore,” Johnson told SuperSport.

“So yes, I’m doing the best I can as a coach and taking this brand of football to the best that we can for the last games of the season.”

ARGUMENTS IN THE DRESSING ROOM

Johnson would go on to tell reporters that the Kaizer Chiefs dressing room was inflamed after their most recent loss.

“It was not to be today. The players are in the dressing room arguing with each other over things we know we should do better,” Johnson said as quoted by IOL.

With six DStv Premiership matches left to play, Kaizer Chiefs find themselves in languishing in 10th place on the table.

Chiefs are ten points behind Orlando Pirates, who currently occupy third place. Third place guarantees the final holder a place in the Caf Confederations Cup.
