Jabu Mahlangu: “I don’t care about people assassinating me”
Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Jabu Mahlangu says he doesn’t care about people assassinating his character.
Known for his controversial views on social media, Kaizer Chiefs legend Jabu Mahlangu doesn’t care about people assassinating his character.
Mahlangu was speaking to TimesLIVE, saying his character was assassinated at the tender age of 19, he doesn’t care anymore.

His views about South African football and Chiefs made him less popular with many fans especially those associated with Amakhosi.

Based on his stature, Jabu Mahlangu rose to prominence at Chiefs under Muhsin Ertugral where was a darling of Chiefs and Bafana Bafana fans.

However, his views since the emergence of Mamelodi Sundowns in recent times have divided the local scene and some assassinated his character.
The 43-year-old Mahlangu has also received personal attacks where some fans call him names based on his past.
He made headlines during his playing days when he was said to be using alcohol and substance abuse, thus limiting his potential.

“I don’t care anymore at this age, I am 43 years old,” he said.
“They assassinated my character from when I was 19 years old and in my first season as a professional footballer — that’s how cruel people are.
“They did that based on the mistakes that were made by a young man of 19. They expected me to live life like I am 43 years old, as I am now.

“It was not possible, but I have learnt from my mistakes and everyone has their own skeletons.”

In addition, the former Orlando Pirates star and SuperSport TV pundit, Mahlangu adds that his aim Is to formulate a discussion regarding local football.

“I don’t care. I put things on the table so that we can discuss in a civilised and robust manner. If you don’t like my opinion come up with yours and let’s discuss it,” he adds.
“There is this thing that fans are always emotional.
“I am challenging them to learn to understand that if someone gives an opinion about their favourite team, don’t just respond and accuse people of being jealous.
