Khenyeza, a former player himself, says psychologists don’t have a place in the game of football as they have not played the sport.

“A psychologist doesn’t play football. They just wear a suit and a tie and read scriptures,” says the Arrows boss Khenyeza.

“I don’t believe in psychologists in football. We play football and what we have experienced in football we have been in these situations.

The man who also played for Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town adds that employing a person who works with psyche will not benefit his team.

“That person has never had this kind of experience, they have never been in the field with 50,000 [supporters]. The only thing that they focus on is to sit and go through [studying]. I don’t believe psychologists, maybe because of my background,” he adds.

“I have played, [Musa] Bilankulu also played, we have been in this situation with the teams that we played for. We have been close to relegation with teams that we played for but we managed to come out.

“In the same team that we are at now, we have been close to relegation how many times? Last season something like that. Now if you bring a psychologist what are they going to talk about? He will give you quotes and never talk about situations in football.”
