LATEST DEVELOPMENTS

In the meantime, the newly arrived Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Fernando Cruz is set to assess the squad before the arrival of Nasreddine Nabi next month.

It’s a strong guarantee that Amakhosi will be adding a couple of new players to the existing squad to compete against the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates next season. Prior to signing or recommending new players, the coaching staff have to look at what they already have.

With Da Cruz arriving this week before the in-coming head coach Nasreddine Nabi‘s completes his term with AS FAR in Morocco, Da Cruz will start woirking with the Kaizer Chiefs squad this week. According to last season’s data, Amakhosi currently have 32 players minus two. According to reports, the 31-year-old central defender Njabulo Ngcobo is set to sign a pre-contract with Sekhukhune United.

“Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo is in line for a move to Sekukhune United ahead of the new season,’ iDiski Times’ Lorenz Kohler reported.

“iDiski Times understands Ngcobo is keen on the move to earn more regular game-time but the players were asked for patience as Chiefs look to secure their new head coach, as reported by this publication,” the report added.

Additionally, the 25-year-old Colombian striker Jasond Gonzalez has been released by Kaizer Chiefs.

“Kaizer Chiefs have opted against taking the option in Jasond Gonzalez contract to make his loan move permanent,” the same outlet said.

“This publication has learnt, that the physical striker will return to Bolivian club Real Santa Cruz at the end of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

“His loan deal, which had an option to make the deal permanent for $180,000 (R3.4 million) will not be pursued further after failing to score in his 12 games for Amakhosi,” the report concluded.
