Evidence Makgopa opens up about Riveiro
Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates striker, Evidence Makgopa has shared his experience of working with coach Jose Riveiro.
Striker Evidence Makgopa is a victim of criticism from both Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates fans and he reveals Jose Riveiro’s demands.
The tall Pirates and Bafana striker is part of the Afcon squad as the national side will face DR Congo and he praises the demanding Riveiro.

Makgopa says he enjoys working with the Pirates’ mentor, Riveiro who demands versatility from him as a striker and troops at Mayfair.
While he remains a victim of the boo-boys, the Sea Robbers striker silenced his critics when he led the Bafana attack and managed to score against Morocco.
In a chat with iDiski Times, Makgopa says the reigning Nedbank Cup and MTN8 title holder with Pirates, Riveiro is someone who developed his game and reveals his demands.

The 23-year-old versatile Pirates striker, Makgopa reveals that Riveiro is one of the best coaches he has worked under.
Formerly on the books of Baroka, the Limpopo-born Pirates striker joined the Buccaneers at the start of the 2022/23 campaign, the same time as Riveiro’s arrival.

Looking at his contribution so far for Pirates, Makgopa has found the back of the net on five occasions across all competitions so far under Riveiro.
“Jose is a very good coach, very good,”Makgopa told iDiski Times about Riveiro’s demands.
“He’s humble, and kind, and I think I’ve learnt a lot but there’s much I can still learn. He’s had a huge impact, so yeah, I can’t say much but he’s improved me tactically.”

At the continental showpiece, Makgopa received praise from Bafana coach Hugo Broos, with the Belgian saying the Pirates star is one for the future.
“You know I had many coaches at Baroka but this one he’s got a different dimension,” added the Pirates striker about Riveiro’s demands.
“As a player, you have to be more versatile. If a new coach comes and says ‘I want you to play like this as a striker’, at the end of the day you need to adjust to fit into his books because you can’t say ‘I’m this type of striker’. You might not end up playing.
