Evans Rusike reportedly hijacked and kidnapped
Evans Rusike was allegedly hijacked, kidnapped by unidentified suspects and later dumped at a bush near Midrand, where the incident occured.
Zimbabwean-born Premier Soccer League (PSL) player Evans Rusike was allegedly kidnapped and hijacked on Tuesday, 12 December.
According to Zimoja, the incident is said to have happened in Midrand, Gauteng, and was captured on the CCTV cameras of the complex Rusike resides.

EVANS RUSIKE ALLEGEDLY HIJACKED AND KIDNAPPED
According to a police statement, four or five suspects were in a white vehicle which reportedly parked by the complex’s gate. The footage reportedly shows the suspects rushing to Rusike’s car, forcing him into the boot before speeding off. He was reportedly dumped at a nearby forest.

“It is alleged that police were doing patrols when they were informed of a hijacking that had just occurred. Police then interviewed the security at the gate further and made inquiries about the information they obtained. The registration number of the hijacked car helped lead the police to the victim’s correct address.

“The information collected supported by the video footage at the gate, gave a clear picture of what transpired. A white car is seen parking by the estate gate with about four to five suspects exiting the car and quickly running to the luxurious car and forcing the victim out of his vehicle and putting him into their car before speeding off with him inside,” reads the police statement.

NO TRACKER
Rusike, who plays for PSL side, Sekhukhune United, revealed in a police statement that he did not see the hijackers’ faces. He also revealed that the suspects threatened to kill him if he failed to comply.
In his statement, Rusike said that his vehicle – worth R300 000 – did not have a tracker and was only insured by the bank.

A case of kidnapping and hijacking was confirmed by Police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo. He revealed that it was opened at the Midrand Police Station and an investigation is underway as no arrests have not been made so far.
Police, however, said they found that the number plate of the vehicle used by the robbers to hijack Rusike was also linked to another case at Johannesburg Central Police station.
