The Crusaders embark on a historic pre-season tour that will see them face Munster and Bristol to warm up for the Super Rugby season.

This may add fuel to rumours that New Zealand are also courting involvement in European competitions.

On Saturday 3 February the Crusaders take on Munster at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, Ireland.

It will be the first time the Crusaders will play anywhere other than Australia and Fiji since Round 14 of the 2019 competition when they drew 19-19 against the Stormers in Cape Town.

“We’re very excited to get over there, the team is buzzing,” said Rob Penney, Crusaders Head Coach.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to connect before the 2024 season properly starts, and to test ourselves against some mighty opponents.”

Munster are the current champions of the United Rugby Championship, which includes teams from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales.

SOLD OUT

Páirc Uí Chaoimh, normally a gaelic football venue, will host a rugby union contest for the second time. The Crusaders game sold out in December, with a crowd of 40,885 anticipated.

Munster Rugby CEO Ian Flanaganan stated that there is “great excitement ahead of next week’s unique fixture”.

“The fact that Páirc Uí Chaoimh is hosting a Munster Rugby game for just the second time adds to the sense of occasion and allows for a wider audience to witness the landmark event,” Flanagan said.

“We have a rich history against touring sides and they are special for the club and our supporters, we’re really looking forward to welcoming the world-renowned Crusaders to Munster.”
