Cavin Johnson shows confidence in current Chiefs squad
Cavin Johnson has shown faith in his current Kaizer Chiefs squad as he turns down a blank cheque offer from the club’s management.
Cavin Johnson showed great faith in the squad he has inherited from previous coaches as he refused to sign any new first team players in the January transfer window.

Kaizer Chiefs were persistently linked with several players and were reportedly close to signing Tashreeq Matthews before Sundowns stole in to pick up the prospect.

COACH CAVIN JOHNSON REFUSES BLANK CHEQUE
In goal there are major questions about almost every stopper in the Kaizer Chiefs squad and the club are also considered to be on the hunt for a 20+ goal striker.

The club are eager to put forward the narrative that Johnson is happy with his squad.
Johnson and the Kaizer Chiefs brass seem to feel that they need all their fringe players in good spirits for the finish to the campaign.

A source within the club has told reporters at the Citizen that Johnson will promote players through the youth system to fill gaps in his squad.

Johnson was doubtless also aware that any money spent in January would add to the club and fan’s expectations.
“Coach Cavin is a very smart man and he knows what he wants,” the unnamed source told Phakaaathi.
“Let me tell you, the management was ready to spend money on any player that he wanted, but he was not interested.
“He believes in the team that he has, so he didn’t want any complications in his squad and he thinks the guys just need to be motivated,” said the source.
“That is why you see young boys being given an opportunity.
“Obrigado (Vilakazi) is now with the senior team and he is going to play. Jansen, is also a very good striker.”
THE MISSION IS CLEAR FOR KAIZER CHIEFS
Kaizer Chiefs will restart their campaign on 13 February with a league date against TS Galaxy.
Chiefs head into that match in sixth place but also within six points of a continental competition place and with the Nedbank Cup also still up for grabs and offering a place in Caf competitions.
Johnson wants to end Kaizer Chiefs trophy drought and qualify for a Caf competition, preferably the Champions League.
