Mamelodi Sundowns managed to edge out Al Ahly 1-0 on aggregate and will play Wydad Casablanca in the final of the African Football League.

Mamelodi Sundowns have reached the final of the African Football League having eliminated Al Ahly on Wednesday.

Masandawana won the two-legged tie 1-0 on aggregate to reach their second final of the season.

Rhulani Mokwena’s troops won 1-0 in Pretoria over the weekend to go to Egypt with an advantage. In Cairo, the 2016 CAF Champions League winners managed to hold Al Ahly to a goalless draw in front of 50,000 fans.

After the game, Sundowns coach Rhulani Mokwena congratulated the home side for their fight.

“But also allow me to congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns in front of your presence. Mamelodi Sundowns showed a lot of character but also gyle and perseverance in what was a very difficult 90 and 7 minutes against a very strong team,” said Mokwena as per iDiski Times.

“I must be honest and I must tell you that this semi-final was won in South Africa in the first leg. That 1-0 result was very big,” added the Sundowns coach.

Having managed to defeat Al Ahly, the Brazilians will now face Wydad AC in the two-legged final starting this Sunday.

In May, Wydad eliminated Masandawana from the Champions League after a 2-2 draw in Atteridgeville.
