HUNT WANTS LEPASA IN FOR BAFANA
Former Kaizer Chiefs boss Gavin Hunt has indicated he wouldn’t mind seeing Zakhele Lepasa come into the side to face Nigeria to partner Evidence Makgopa in attack. His rationale is that Lepasa would present a physical, direct threat to Nigeria’s central defensive trio of Semi Ajayi, William Troost-Ekong and Fulham’s Calvin Bassey. However, that would mean Hugo Broos needs to change a side he’s not tinkered with in four consecutive matches. Who would come out if Lepasa were to come in? AFCON SEMIFINAL WILL BE A TIGHT AFFAIR
Ronwen Williams made history with his penalty-shootout heroics against Cape Verde, saving four spot-kicks to see Bafana through to this stage. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Chippa United keeper Stanley Nwabili (a rumoured target for Kaizer Chiefs), has kept four clean sheets in the tournament. The Super Eagles haven’t conceded since the tournament’s opening day in a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea. Williams has kept three shutouts for South Africa. Needless to say, a single goal could sway this grand occasion.
